The Valentines are addressed and the treat bags are done. So we're on to St. Patrick's Day. I'm surrounded by Irish in my family (everyone but me).
I did a heart with swirls (on the right panel) and it was downloaded 579 times as of today. Guess you all liked it!?! So I did a Shamrock with Swirls.
Here are the elements on the SVG:
Here is the final product. Would make a cute addition to a card or scrapbook page.
FYI ~ the swirly shamrock piece is a bit tricky to glue - I would recommend a Zig Pen or a shot of Spray Mount for adhesive.
If you'd like the SVG click here to DOWNLOAD.
Amy, Your work continues to amaze me.. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful creations and amazing files..

Your Shamrock with swirls is just awesome. I've downloaded it twice though and unzipped it and SCAL can't open the svgs files. Is there a trick or a possibility you could just make the svg file availabl for download?
ReplyDeleteSusan

Me too Amy -- SCAL won't open the svg's and they don't show up as a preview either. Any suggestions?

Hi Susan - I sent you the SVG via email - Karen - I went to your site but could not find your email address. Please email me if you'd like me to send you the unzipped SVG.
ReplyDeleteJust curious -- did anyone else issues with the ZIP/SVG file? I redownloaded it and it worked fine. Thanks! Amy
Susan & Karen - Just rereading your comments and you say you can't import the SVGs - this may be problem. There is only one SVG file in there - the other one is a JPG for visual reference only so you can see how to put the different cut pieces together. Is there a chance you are trying to import the JPG into SCAL? Just an idea ?!? Amy
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your scrolly shamrock and had no trouble downloading it/unzipping it, but my cricut is having a terrible time cutting it. I especially have trouble cutting bazzil paper and wonder if there are any tips you could share? Again, thanks for the beautiful design work.
ReplyDeleteHi Natalie - Glad you like the shamrock. It is a bit tricky/intricate to cut. I thought about redesigning it but I just loved how it turned out. Some ideas...maybe you need a new blade? I have my speed and settings on the 4th (high) bar on my Expression. If you use a stock that is too thick you sometimes have to cut it 2times - this design would not do well with the cut 2times because it is too intricate. Hope that helps! Amy
ReplyDeleteoh i love this!! it's not easy to cut using gemstone paper, but i had to have it lol
ReplyDeletei cut this 14 times for name place cards for my elderly residents at work to use for the next month!!! thanks so so much for sharing it:)
I know I'm a novice and asking very basic questions, but I'm learning. :) I've downloaded this and am wondering how I break up the different layers for cutting...or do I have to cut the entire page everytime. Like, can I cut out the scalloped circles on one paper and then cut out the shamrocks on another paper? I've tried all kinds of cutting/clipping/selecting options with inkscape and scal and can't separate the various elements. Thanks Amy!
ReplyDeleteHi Natalie - I'd be happy to help you out. The SVG you downloaded has all the elements on the same page.
ReplyDelete- If you have an Expression you can put different pieces of paper on one mat and cut them all at the same time.
- If you want to cut separate elements or if you have the Create/Personal Cricut you can do one of two things.
1. Import into SCAL and so to "Object" "Break Apart" You can then select items by clicking on them and delete the items you do not want. I think MTC has this feature but not sure what it is called. They do not make MTC for the Mac so I have not tried this out.
2. I don't use Inkscape (I use Illustrator) but I believe you can open the SVG in Inkscape and delete sections and save as a new SVG and import into SCAL or MTC.
Hope that all helps. If those don't work please email me and I'd be happy to send you the elements as separate SVGS!
Amy
Thankyou, Amy. Those tips gave me just what I needed! You are so kind.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteI too have tried downloading your file and can't seem to get it to open. Would you mind emailing me the file?
Thanks so much,
Hilary

Hi Hilary - I just tested it and the link does work. Once you download the ZIP file you need to expand it and then you'll have a folder that has a SVG and JPG in it. The JPG is just a visual reference. The SVG is the file that you want to import into SCAL or MTC. Sending you the SVG via email too. Amy
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I can really use this for St. Patrick's Day cards! Thanks for sharing it!
