Tip of the Week - Make your own embossing folder
Well - I have been wanted to do this for quite some time and finally did it! I must admit it took me a few times to get it right. I used the Cricut Embossing Folder Kit.
Step 1 - I set up the SVGs I wanted to use as my emboss. I used all “thank you” files from SVG Cuts. The embossing folder is 5.75 wide x 4.25 high and I came in about a 1/2 inch in from the edge.
Step 2 - Place the Cricut Embossing Sheet on the Cricut Mat and cut 2 times.
Step 3 - Peel off the entire sheet as one piece - a little tricky but it worked out for me.
Step 4 - Now here is the part I struggled with - I was peeling off the entire one side but you only peel off the negative area so that side is sticky and place the entire sheet on the left side of the blank embossing folder. Press this down firmly - they even recommend you run it thru the Cuttlebug to make sure it is sticking.
Step 5 - Take the backing off the positive side. When all done fold the folder up so those pieces adhere to the right side of the embossing folder.
Step 6 - Emboss away!
Here is a card I made with the “thank you” embossing folder. I've embossed using this about 20 times and it is still staying intact.
I used DCWV & AC Cardstock and Creative Charms Gradient Pearls along with a ribbon to accent.
If you decide to make your own embossing folder or if you have already done so please email me a photo - would love to share!
Hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend!

Wedding Time!
Wedding time is fast approaching and so are the Wedding Invite Collages! Here is one I am calling “The Perfect Pair Collage”. This couple has a pear/pair theme for the wedding and I worked in two pears at the top. I also incorporated the flowers from the wedding - white orchids. I used silk flowers as an accent.
The SVG Cuts background I used is one of my favorites - From Memory Garden Design Page SVG Kit - Emblem Page. I also used a border from Rosie's Ribbon Strips SVG Collection.
Pears are from Harvest Hill SVG Collection.
I used Pearls & Vintage Pearl Brads from Creative Charms along with a ribbon to add to the collage.
Hope you have a great weekend!

I finished off with some twine from the Twinery and Creative Charms Gradient Gems on the butterfly.

Punkin' Patch DT Call
SVG Cuts is looking for stampers! Check out the DT Call for Punkin' Patch Stamps.
From their blog:“We are excited to announce that we are branching out into the world of stamping! Oh, but Punkin’ Patch Stamps won’t be your regular old stamp company. Of course conventional stampers will love our stamps, but we’ll also be designing our stamps with the personal cutting machine user in mind. That means stamps and SVG files that work together seamlessly!”
Follow Punkin’ Patch Stamps on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates! Coming this fall!

Floral ATCs
I created this Floral ATC for the Swap over at the SVG Cuts Forum. How cool is it - one of these went to Cindy the whole way overseas in Germany and I got her beautiful ATC? Join in the next swap - it is a Patriotic Swap!
I used the hydrangea file from SVG Cuts Moonlight Garden Party, the stamp is from Pink By Design & added Creative Charms gradient gems to accent. I made the little folder SVG last time around.
Check out Cheryl’s Blog - she is expecting her first grandbaby and has a giveaway. She is a very talented paper crafter - stop by and congratulate her!

The Perfect Embellishment
Ever work on a project and look through your embellishments and say "Wow - that works perfect!"? That is what happened with my latest Wedding Invitation Collage.
The Creative Charms Vintage Velvet Poppies worked perfect with this collage. I added a paper flower behind the blue one to make it stand out. I also like using the Vintage Pearl Brads in White on these types of projects. They really are a nice accent to a formal piece.
The invite was a folder and cut the front with the couple's names embossed on it. I off-set it.
Here are a few closeups..
The scallop shape and strip at the bottom are from SVG Cuts. This project is featured on the Creative Charms Blog - stop by - there is a new project posted everyday by some very creative ladies.

Gift Card Bouquets
The homeroom mom of my son's class sent home a notice asking everyone to send in a gift card for a gift card bouquet. I volunteered to make the flowers and it was a really fun project!
I also made for a friend of mine who is a homeroom mom. 31 flowers in all :)
There are four types of flowers. For the first flower I used a freebie from SVG Cuts - from 1/21/10. Just weld the rose_bottom.svg to create a card to hold the gift card.
Second Flower is also a freebie from 4/14/10. I welded the center of the tulip and glued the edges. It is a little pocket.
The third & fourth flower uses elements from SVG Cuts 3D Mums & Fall Flowers SVG Kit.
Flowers are about 4" - big enough to fit a gift card. I finished these off with some inking, embossing and Creative Charms Embellishments. So if you are thinking about doing an end of school project for your teacher consider a Gift Card Bouquet!

Tip of the Week - Photoshop
I created this Fall layout for the recent Creative Charms Blog Hop. I am not usually overly concerned and don't usually try to match my photos to the papers I pick out but on this one - they really clashed. So after creating the layout I am going to reprint my photos using a duotone effect in Photoshop. Thought I would share how to do this.
Step 1 - Open up your photo in Photoshop
Step 2 - Under Image/Mode Select Grayscale
Step 3 - Go back to Image/Mode and Select Duotone
Step 4 - It will bring up a box. I kept mine black and for my second color I picked a gold color. You change the color by clicking on the square of color. Play around with different options until you find a good color combination.
Here is my layout with the duotone photos in place:
Gives it a whole different look for sure! All the cuts on the page are from SVG Cuts and Embellishments from Creative Charms. Thanks for stopping by.
