Love String Art

Hello Everyone! I'm sharing a new technique (for me) for my Miss Kate Cuttables design team project. I will share step by step directions.

For my project I tried STRING ART!

I am going to share the steps I took to create the project:

STEP 1:
I selected the SVGs. I used the envelope from the Valentine Love Letter Set.

I also used a bold font for the LOVE. You can use the bottom layer of the Valentine Uppercase Alphabet. Once I imported the SVGs into my Cameo Software I converted to dots using the rhinestone feature. I converted the lines to dots. I used .25 spacing.

STEP 2:
I cut vinyl with my Cameo. When I peeled the vinyl from the backer it left all the dots on the backer piece so it was super easy and there was no weeding needed. I applied the vinyl to my board and grabbed by hammer and nails.

STEP 3:
I nailed in my nails. Using the holes in vinyl as my guide.

I peeled off the vinyl when I was done nailing.

STEP 4:
I grabbed my yarn (Walmart carries this brand)

I started by securing my yarn on a corner nail and double knotting it, leave a tail. I then went around the outside edge of the design, wrappng around each nail, sort of outlining it, keeping the yarn at the bottom of nail. Once it was outlined I started randomly wrapping the yarn until it was a desired amount of coverage.
Once it was completed I repeated the outline around the shape to finish it off and tied a knot at the nail I started on.

I decided to outline my envelope with black yarn - it helped to make it pop.

This project is time consuming but it was very fun!
I actually took some iphone videos. Here are the links on YouTube:

Valentine Card - Miss Kate Challenge

Hey there. I made a fun card for my Mom for Valentine's Day. This follows the Challenge theme on the Miss Kate Cuttable Galleria. Theme is RED, WHITE & PINK.

To add some interest I diecut the front of the card around the middle cupcake.
Here's a closeup...

I used the Cupcake Tray file.  Although I did not use the tray portion.

Here's the inside of the card.

Miss Kate Hearts Challenge

One more day until Valentine's Day! Today kicks off a new challenge for Miss Kates. The theme is HEARTS. For my project I created a layout featuring a fav photo of me and my husband.

I used a bunch of elements from Valentine Set 2 & Valentine Set.
I cut the elements in various colors and scattered them throughout the layout.

The frame around the photo is from Doodle Frames.
I finished it off with the Heart Swag Border file.

Love Box Card

Happy Valentine's Day to you! I created this fun box card today and wanted to share with you.
I was inspired by three different people on this project.

First Cindy Ruffino created a box card using Miss Kate Cuttables files - Second Melissa De Monic created the card with the heart balloons using the pen tool:

Last But Not Least - Mary from SVG Cuts created these new Springtime Box Cards SVG Kit. I purchased the Kit and watched the Assembly Video. I thought ....I'm going to try and make my own Valentine box card before I make Mary's Spring versions.

Thanks ladies for the inspiration!

I added the Heart Balloons & Love Word Set from Miss Kate Cuttables.
As I mentioned earlier I used my pen tool for the outline and added the cut outs of the hearts.

As you can see the amazing part of a box card is they fold flat and once the recipient removes them from the envelope >>>
BAM! it is a 3D Card.

I also used my pen toll to create the messaging on the back of the card.
(She is going to love it and so will our other Grandma!)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Love Challenge

It's time for another challenge over on the Miss Kate Cuttable’s Galleria Facebook Page.

The theme is 'LOVE"

I made some fun treat containers.

I started out with plastic containers which hold the drink pouches.

I initially tried to adhere scrapbook paper to the containers but it did not work so well. I had some vinyl which did not cut very well on Cameo. I tried it and it worked perfect!

I added white vinyl hearts over the prink vinyl and added tags.
They are made from the Bee Mine Title file from Miss Kate Cuttables.

I cut them on my Cameo and paper pieced them together.

Fill the containers with Valentine Treats and a gift card and you'll be good to go!

Stop by the MKC blog to see the Design team projects and join the challenge over on the FB Galleria Page.

Miss Kate Cuttable's Store is having a sale on all Valentine SVGs - check them out!

Valentine Bubble Gum Treats

So what ya working on this weekend? Valentine treats?
I made these Valentine Treats for my son’s first grade class.
They were so fast and easy to put together.

I picked up these Hubba Bubba Bubble Gums.
Cut the scallops on my Sizzix using SVG Cuts 24 Valentines SVG Kit. (Peace Sign)
I also cut circles in a few patterned papers.

I then cut the Stampables and stamped those using
Punkin’ Patch Stamps All You Need Is Love Stamps.
I printed a little message from my son and applied.

Hope you had a good week and wishing you a fun, crafty weekend!

Be My Valentine!

I had a blast creating these Valentine Boxes! I just love cutting on my Sizzix Eclips and assembling but have to say had just as much fun embellishing these with my Creative Charms.

I started with the boxes - they are from SVG Cuts ~ Bundle of Joy SVG Kit ~ Baby Block Box. I had room on the mat for the square accent pieces and cut everything and mixed them up. I assembled using my hot glue gun - my go to tool for 3D projects.

I then started to embellish with Creative Charms. I added some stamped images from Punkin’ Patch Stamps. They offer SVGs called Stampables. You cut them and stamp them. Have to say they are fun. I colored some of the stamped images in with my Copic Markers.

Here are the details of each box:

1 ~ Creative Charms Gradient Pearls ~ LOVE Stamp from Punkin’ Patch Stamps
2 ~ CC Gradient Gems ~ Be Mine from SVG Cuts, 24 Valentines
3 ~ Felt Hearts from CC ~ XOXO Stamp from PP Stamps
4 ~ Vintage Velvet Poppie in Pastel Pink from Creative Charms ~ Love Struck from PP Stamps
5 ~ CC Braided Daisy Medley in Pink ~ U.R. Cool from PP Stamps
6 ~ Felt Hearts from Creative Charms

Papers are from Basic Grey ~ Kissing Booth & Bo Bunny

If you have some special Valentines ~ make them a little box and fill with goodies, jewelry or something special!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Have you seen Bingo cards on scrapbook pages and cards? They are a cute addition and decided to make my own in Illustrator, save as a SVG and cut with SCAL (Sure Cuts Alot) on the Cricut.

You can do any combination of paper. Good news - there is very little paper piecing. Bad news - lots of weeding and little scraps to discard. But I think it is worth the effort!

If you'd like the SVG click here to DOWNLOAD.
Please note: For best quality - do not cut smaller than the file size supplied.

Hope you like!

A Valentine Milkshake

I have another Valentine's SVG to share. My son picked out Valentine Bendy Straws (from Joann's) for his classmates.

I created this SVG and will cut it to go in the goodie bags. I am going to attach the straw so it looks like it is coming out the of the shake along with a pencil. Good thing there are only 20 kids in the class!?!

For the shake SVG click here to DOWNLOAD.
Have a great weekend!
