Tip Tuesday - Welding

Welcome to the second edition of Tip Tuesday. (woo-hoo 2 weeks in a row!) Here is a sneak peek at a journaling box I made for the upcoming Creative Charms Blog Hop Project. I combined/welded two SVGs for this.

Step 1
Import your SVG into SCAL. I used the scallop shape from Edisto Island Cards - Oak Manor Step Card - "label_top.svg" Make note of the X & Y Coordinates under the Properties box.

Step 2
Click on the image and copy & paste it. and drag it down so the middles overlap.

Step 3
Now you can just sorta eye ball this or you if you want to get exact make sure you have the second image selected and enter the same X coordinate as the first image you placed. This will line them up perfectly.

Step 4
Select both images and click on Weld under the Properties box.

Step 5
Click Preview to ensure it works!

Hope that helps if you are new to SCAL!

Blog Hop Next Week & Easter Bags

Hi Everyone - I am very excited to be participating in my first ever blog hop for Creative Charms. It is next Friday 4/29 - there will be lots of prizes & a grand prize giveaway if you participate in the hop. Check out the logo (I designed it!). You'll start on the Creative Charms Blog and hop on from there. I have lots of projects to share for the hop - looking forward to sharing them.

Also have some Easter bags to share. I used files from SVG Cuts Spring Bunnies SVG Collection. I created prints of the files - had to make 17 and that would be alot of paper piecing!

Hope your Easter is a Happy One!

Tip Tuesday - Resizing in SCAL

I know there are a lot of new SCAL users out there and seems like a lot more questions are popping up. So I decided to do Tip Tuesday. Stop back every Tuesday (I hope) for tips on SCAL, Scrapbooking, Crafting, etc.

Someone asked about sizing two layered SVGs on the SVG Cuts Forum and here is how I do it:

Step 1
Import your bottom & top layer SVGs into SCAL.

Step 2
Click on both images while holding down the shift key. Continue to hold down on the shift key and click on the bottom right icon and drag to the size you would like.

Step 3
Now you have two SVGs that are both sized up proportionately. You can now copy and paste more of them if you like.

Please note: Another way to resize is to use the Width & Height box within the Properties box. Make "Keep Proportions" is checked when you enter in your new width/height. You can either click on each image separately and resize or for a short cut you can select both together and resize.

As you can see there are many different ways to do things in SCAL or any program - just sharing how I do things :)

Wedding Invite Collage - Cherry Blossoms

Did you get SVG Cuts Cherry Blossom Collection? I sure hope so because it is so beautiful. As I mentioned in an earlier post Thienly is hosting a challenge on the forum. Check out the entries here.

When I saw the Cherry Blosoms Collection I thought it would work perfect for a Wedding Invite Collage that was on my to do list. The flowers were a perfect match to the invite.

I cut the flower petals using two different pinks and also cut the small flower in the middle using a burgundy. The middle part that comes out was cut in brown to match my invite. I added some inking to the edges. I assembled as Thienly recommended - with a hot clue gun and it worked perfect.

The stems are from Celeste's Cutesy Corner Elements - I used the branch file. I cut the leaves by hand to match the invite.

The invite is framed in a file from the Photo Cards Collection - Tami's Card. I added some Creative Charms Vintage Brads.

I used AC Cardstock for my frame & flowers. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend. I am heading to an IRS Crop (IRS = I'd rather scrap) so I know I'll be having a great weekend :)

Farm Collage

I had a crafty weekend and completed two shadowbox collages. I got the frame at Michael's for $3.99!

This farm collage was so fun to make. A friend of mine at work asked me to create this for her parents as an Anniversary Gift.

I asked her to describe the farm and after going onto SVG Cuts the Grandpa's Organic Farm Collection had almost everything I needed (even a windmill). Mary - you must of done your research on that one. I also used the cow from Harvest Hill Farm. Puppy is from Doggie Pals I and it captured their dog Angel perfectly.

I tried something new for this collage - Cri-Kits Pens. I won these in a recent challenge on the SCAL Forum. I love these! I did the farm name and Established with the pens.

It draws where it would normally cut so I had to play around with the fonts a bit. I converted my fonts to outline in Illustrator and made them into a single line. It was so much fun.

Cri-Kits is having a challenge on their blog and I entered this. Click for the challenge details.

Guess what...I am on FB Now - Check out my page.

Plus I figured out how to add an email subscribe feature on my blog -----------------> Check it out on the right side of my blog.

Easter ATCs

I had so much fun making these Easter ATCs for the SVG Cuts Swap. ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. They are 2.5" wide x 3.5" high.

I tried to pair a fun whimsical card with a more traditional card.

These work perfect for cards or a cute little bag.

Join in on the next swap - I think it is going to be a floral swap. Fun!
