Mosaic Technique

The great thing about attending crops is you can pick up on cool techniques and tools. There were a few scrappers doing a mosaic technique. Their pages contained squares - including the photos, borders, backgrounds. I decided to incorporate this technique into one of my layouts.

It works perfect if you have a background type image - I don’t think I would use this for a photo of a person or anything too detailed. In my case I did a layout about how we like to dine on the bay on vacation. I took a photo of the bay from our condo patio and tried the technique. I also cut out some patterned paper using the SVG.

The Paradise title is from SVG Cuts ~ Tropical Friends SVG Collection.

Interested in trying out the technique? This SVG is super simple - 1" squares duplicated and you could create this in SCAL or ecal but here it is if you just want to import it in and give it a try! Click here or click on the image below.

Have a great day!

By the Sea Layout

I recently did a weekend crop and I was cropping Summer of 2011. I am a big fan of Summer and what a great way to spend a winter weekend.

I used one of my all time favorite SVG Cuts collections on this layout ~ Tropical Friends SVG Collection. If you don't have it, I would highly recommend. Check out this title & cute little dolphin:

If you a scrapper you will also need Memory Gardent Designer Page SVG Kit. The frame elements are from this kit plus it contains a bunch more!

Stay tuned for more summer layouts!

Twins!

Hi there! I was away in Florida last week for business and glad to be back home. I had some crafty time this past weekend and got the Sizzix Eclips running.

One of my coworkers just retired about a month ago and she has brand new baby twins - a boy Logan and a girl Hayden. I made these for their room. They have a Lion King theme room. I found the Lion King paper at Michael’s.

Here is Hayden’s Collage:

Here is a closeup of Logan’s Collage:
I used the palm tree from SVG Cuts Birthday Dino SVG Collection.
I stretched the palm tree trunk in Illustrator to better fit with my design.

The palm fronds are from SVG Cuts Edisto Island Cards SVG Kit

Also used the free borders from SVG Cuts.

I used the font Be Lucian for the names. I also added the baby’s foot prints and birth details. I designed them so they look great on the wall from left to right.

Here is a peek at the room decor I matched - cute isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by today ~ have a great week!

DIY Irish Coasters & Giveaway

Have you seen my latest SVG Cuts DT Project? It was posted today just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Here is a look....

No! It is not a 3D Beer Bottle...it is Irish Coasters. I used tiles left over from my kitchen, added SVGs and Modge Podge to finish it off.

Stop by the SVG Cuts site for all the details. Remember, these would be great for any theme. I made some owl coasters for my sons’ teachers and they loved them - will share those soon.

How about a giveaway?

Just leave me a comment before noon on Saturday - St Patrick’s Day.
I'm giving away these items:

4 Tiles, Modge Podge, Foam Brushes, Felt
+
$15.00 SVG Cuts Gift Certificate

Collage with Doilies

Have to tell you this Sizzix eclips is truly an amazing cutter! It cuts so clean and does not have any issues with intricate cuts. When SVG Cuts released the Doilies SVG Collection I thought I will use those but now that I’ve had it, I am finding more and more uses for them. I just cut some today 4" wide on the eclips!

I discovered a cool trick today and thought I'd share. After the doilies are finished remove from the mat and I used a Pampered Chef Scraper to remove all the little pieces. You probably have these in your kitchen drawer.

I created the Julianna font to match the embroidered bedding. It matches just perfect! You can also get a good look at the first doilie on this photo.

Here is closeup of the doilie. I threaded pink ribbon through the border.

Little Julianna has lots of butterflies in her room so of course I worked in a few of those too.

Shadowbox frame is from Joanns - 12x12 size. Gems on the collage are from Creative Charms. I would suggest you stop by their store ~ they are having an inventory clearance.

Stop by my Facebook Page and like me.

I'm also on Pinterest and have quite a collection of scrapbook layouts pinned plus other seasonal crafts and shadowboxes.

Hippity Hoppity Layout

Don’t you just love Springtime? It is FUN! I sure do and so excited small signs of spring are popping up around me.

As soon as I saw the layout from the latest Kit I just had to make it. Check out the Poplar Street Tulips SVG Kit here. Here are the left and right side layouts.

I also used elements from The Hippity Hoppity SVG Kit that was released the prior week. That is the great thing about SVG Cuts files - the title is from a card but they also save everything off into an "Extras" Folder so you can use the elements on other pieces.

Here is the full 2 page layout - click on it for a closer look

I used photos from last year to drop in digitally but plan on finalizing with photos that we are having taken 3/11 at a local park.

Did you see SVG CUTs is having a moving sale? Check it out here. Who doesn’t love a sale?

I am off to an all day crop today ~ should be lots of fun! So looking forward to it after a week of travel and all day meetings for work. Have a great weekend!
