Fall & Christmas Mini Quilts

Along with playing with paper I've also been playing with fabric too. I recently joined a quilt group and signed up for a sampler quilt class. I did 12 different 12x12 blocks. It is currently at the quilters for machine quilting. I will be sure to share photos once I get it back and bind it. I did a few blocks where I cut fabric on my Cameo and appliquéd it to the quilt block. (click here for a previous video tutorial on how to cut fabric on the Cameo.)

I discovered an amazing quilter's blog - it's called The Crafty Quilter. There was a tutorial for an Amish Mini Quilt that caught my eye. Since I'm new to quilting the great PDF instructions were perfect for me to understand.

I made this Welcome Fall Mini Quilt:

I placed it on my kitchen table and just love how it turned out.

I also decided to create a smaller one for Christmas.
I just skipped the outside strips and corners.

Here is a close up look.

Hope you liked the Mini Quilts I shared today.
The Crafty Quilter is having a link up on her blog - if you create with fabric stop by and link up!

Halloween Challenge at Miss Kates

Hello all. I have not blogged in a bit due to my nephew's wedding. It was busy leading up to the wedding and I made the trek to Duck Key, FL. The wedding was wonderful and so unique. It was nice to get into the Florida sun and spend time with family. Soon after we arrived back home Hurricane Matthew made it's way to Florida.

Today starts a new challenge at the Miss Kate Galleria Page. The theme for October is HALLOWEEN. I created this layout with my 2015 trick or treaters.

The coordinating Boo Title was a perfect addition to my layout.

Stop on over at the FB Galleria Page and join in the challenge!

Fancy Frame Shadowbox

Hello! I love creating shadowboxes for newlyweds. It makes a perfect wedding gift.
I have made a bunch of these and usually use a bracket style file. I was in the mood to try something new on this one.

After searching Flourishes/Frames Category on the Miss Kate website I spotted these Fancy Frames.

I used the one on the top left. I usually do not stretch files but in the case I wanted it a bit wider and when I did stretch in the Cameo Designer Edition Software it looked just fine. I did create a shadow of the pattern and also cut the bottom layer in white. Foam tape and foam core under the layers helps add dimension and give the shadow effect. I also added some pearl accents.

Hope you enjoyed my project! Stop back in a few days to check out the Miss Kate's October Challenge.
