Halloween Banner & Giveaway!

Hello there! I recently worked on some fun Halloween projects for Miss Kate Cuttables. I received the October 31st paper pack  in the mail (talk about happy mail!)
and created a banner and scrapbook layout.

I sent the projects to Kate and Jeff and they featured my projects on their YouTube channel.
Have you seen the video? If not click here to check it out.

They also featured a bunch of fabulous projects from fellow MKC design team member - Cathie Watt. Make sure you subscribe while you're there.

Here are the details on my banner project:

I used the Halloween frames for my project. The frames are featured on a few of the papers so thought it would be cool to cut those from the SVGs.
These first two panels feature the Halloween Bat Frame and Halloween Witch Shoe Frame.

The middle panel of my banner features the Halloween Witch Frame. I used an oval frame on the ends and in the middle and the round frames for the second and fourth to balance out the banner.

I used the Haunted House Frame and Halloween Spiderweb Frame.
I tried to use a patterned paper behind the frames but it was a bit busy so I decided to use color coordinated solid color stock behind the frames. I used a tag from this Tag Set for my panels.

I did make the panels about 8" so all the Halloween frames would cut clean. Added some ribbon and embellishments to finish it off. Here's my fireplace with the banner. Now it has a new home in Miss Kate's studio! I'll have to make another one for my home :)

To kick off the Halloween season, I'm having a giveaway!

Please leave me a comment by 9/23 noon with your email address and if I select your name I'll send you a code for a $10 voucher for Miss Kate Cuttables (can be used on SVGs only).

Stop back 9/24am and I'll announce the winner.

I'll share more Halloween projects and have another giveaway!

Guest Designer Die Cuttin’ Divas

I'm super excited to be guest designer at Die Cuttin’ Divas!

It’s Challenge #219 and the theme is National Aquarium Month.

I needed a summer theme banner for my mantle so I decided to make a mini banner with 3 panels.

First I started with some canvas I picked up at Joanns and trimmed the banner shapes with a rotary cutter.

I then ironed on the fusible web to the back of the fabric. I placed the fabric on my cutting mat and cut with my Cameo.

I cut the Miss Kate Cuttable’s Seahorse and Fish SVG File.
This simplistic file is perfect for cutting fabric. I did not cut the eyes from the file. I hot glued buttons instead.

Here is a closeup view of the banners:

I cut the blue fabric 1" wider than the canvas and double folded it over to finish off the edges.
I stitched down the sides and stitched ribbon across the top. I hot glued buttons on the ribbon to finish it off.
Here is a look at the back of the banners:

I hope you enjoyed my project. I would like to thank Die Cuttin’ Diva’s for having me as Guest Designer.
Stop on over to the Die Cuttin’ Diva’s Blog to check out the great Design Team Projects and enter the Aquarium Theme Challenge.
There are some great prizes up for grabs!

Let It Snow Banner

Today I'm very excited to share my first Miss Kate Cuttables design team project!
I'm honored to the join the awesome designers and can't wait to share projects with Miss Kate Cuttables wonderful files.

I always get bummed when I take down all the Christmas decorations so I made a Let It Snow Banner to dress up my home.

Here is a look at the banner: (click to enlarge)

I started out by importing the Tags and Backgrounds svg into the Designer Edition software.
I ungrouped and deleted the other images and released compound path and deleted the hole of the tag.
I enlarged to 4.5" wide and cut from Carta Bella - All Bundled Up patterned paper.
Next I cut the snowflake with the swirl for the top of each banner. It is from the Snowflake Set file.
I also cut out the snowflakes from the same set. I added 3.5" circle behind each to make them pop against the chevron paper.
I used silver glitter paper (cut 2X with the cameo) and also inked papers with silver to create a cohesive look.
I wanted to feature the Let It Snow Title on the center banner.
The ends of the banner feature the Cute Mittens File. I cut the image down the middle and applied to the banner.

 Tips:
I added gems to accent, finished off with grommets, added ribbon to connect and also to accent, used foam tape throughout to add dimension, kept the design symmetric.

Here's a close up look at each panel of the banner.

Stop by the MKC Blog to follow and make sure you get the Freebie of the Day!

Thanks for stopping by and if you decide to make a winter banner to dress up your home please share on the Miss Kate Cuttables Galleria on Facebook.

Christmas In July

Hey Everyone - Merry Christmas in July! SVG Cuts is have a fun Christmas in July event this week. My fellow design team members have created some awesome projects. Stop on over to the SVG Cuts Blog to check them out!

Here's a fun Christmas project I created with some of my fellow SVG Cuts crafters. We did a banner swap. We each made 4 of the same letter and swapped them. I made this first one - the N. The cut of the girl is from Kate’s Holiday Silhouettes SVG Collection.  The baking elements are from the Christmas Cookie Party SVG Collection.

The beautiful O Banner was created by Kathy Helton - Stop by and like Kathy's Craft Corner.
Kathy is the latest member to the SVG Cuts DT. Yaaa!

This lovely E Banner is from Deb’s Crafty Side - Stop by Deb's FB Page and follow.

And last but certainly not least L Banner is from Brigit Mann. Here's her FB Page.

Hope you like my Christmas in July! Also - don't forget to stop by and enter for a chance to win a Cameo and an Eclips from SVG Cuts!

Fall Banner Swap

This time next week Summer will be over and Autumn begins. I just love the SVG Cuts ATC Swaps, it’s so fun to get one in your mailbox. I was trying to figure what else we could swap and thought why not a banner?

I asked some fellow swappers if they would be interested in testing this out. I cut the banner shapes and letters and sent them out to Elizabeth, Deb and Brigit. They each created 4 of their letter, kept one for themselves and sent the other three to the other swappers Once all the mailing was done here is our end result:

Elizabeth created the F. Love the velvet accents and the leaf is a great cut.

I created the A banner. I used the tree from the Fall Harvest SVG Kit. and the bushel basket is from Harvest Hill Farm SVG Collection.

Deb from Deb’s Crafty Side created the first L.
Her burlap accents and other cuts are so pretty.

Brigit (fellow SVG Cuts DT Member) from Brigit Scraps created the second L.
Her leaf frame and accent is so pretty - photo does not do it justice - has a little sparkle to it and looks like water colors.

So this swap was a success and I think I may offer up a “NOEL” swap on the SVG Cuts forum. If there are several groups I may send out an SVG of a banner shape and the letters along with a color palette to follow. What do you think? Sound fun?

Now that fall is approaching so is Halloween. Have you seen the latest challenge on the SVG Cuts FB Page? Halloween theme with 1st place prize of a Sizzix eclips! Go check it out!

That ever so generous Mary & Leo are also giving away a Big Shot 9/17!
